heyfuture community

We are living in an age of fast-paced technological disruption. As a consequence it becomes harder to be in the know and stay relevant. Furthermore, as humans, we are reaching new heights of consciousness, which redefine the meaning of our existence. We search for purpose, meaning, connection, intention and impact.

heyfuture community creates a space for expanding the collective wisdom about future and humanity so that we can craft a more beautiful life in the age of machines.

Through regular meetups, upskilling bootcamps, online platform with high quality content and networking possibility, we aim to provide unique support to individuals to engage in beautiful transformations on a personal level, stay relevant on the job market and drive innovative initiatives to create a positive impact in the society.

Define three specific objectives that you would like to achieve with your proposal.

The goals are:

1. To increase the collective knowledge about future (trends, innovations, upcoming transformations) - as a prerequisite to feel part of the future narrative and be able to make informed decisions.

2. To provide a space for networking with like minded people - as a prerequisite to achieve faster growth and access opportunities that are often unknown.

3. To create opportunities for learning the skills relevant in the future for a conscious, resilient and determined workforce.

What problems (particularly in value chain competitiveness and global disruption) are your community’s stakeholders facing due to the Covid-19 pandemic?

The COVID-19 pandemic disrupts the current working models, triggers new ways of social interaction and at the same time demands innovative solutions and accelerated digital transformation to tackle the current challenges.

  • The workforce, which is of a sudden thrown in a new reality, must quickly learn new relevant skills to either be able to find a job as a replacement to the lost one, or to manage to keep the current job.
  • The leaders notice that the leadership styles that proved to work some months ago might need complete revision and they might feel overwhelmed to find good ways to keep the workforce motivated remotely.
  • Driving innovation as a solution for current problems requires  certain skills and mindsets that are still very scarce.
  • Physical distancing brings along challenges to keep a healthy social life.

What minimum viable solution(s) are you proposing to address the challenge(s) in your community?

We believe in the power of community and togetherness as the firmest foundation for a healthy human progress in this century.

Through its gatherings (featuring experts, trainers and thoughtful leaders) and its curated online content the community provides a safe space to learn new relevant skills and grow.

Similar to the face-to face gatherings, the virtual gatherings, through the well thought approach, provide a feeling of meaningful and authentic communion to the participants enriching their social life.

Share your story (your narrative)

It was the spring of 2019 when most of the evenings I was spending on reading diverse articles about long-term traveling and learning programs abroad. I was short before a burn out and the idea of taking a sabbatical for learning and traveling seemed to be one solution. It was clear to me that opposed to the first two years after moving to Germany - when I felt motivated and curious at work, during the other following two I felt plane and disappointed. I was longing for authentic human interactions and experiences at work and also a job with purpose and impact. I was missing the network and the knowledge to make the right transition to it. Due to the fast-paced changes and technological disruption it was for me like for many other people hard to be in the know and stay relevant - due to lack of certain skills, without access to a good network and relevant information - information that would be free, qualitative and accessible in my organization independent on the corporate ladder I occupy. With the genuine intention to address this problem, in the autumn of the same year the heyfuture community came to life.

Imagine that there is a platform in your community where you could effectively learn future skills and grow so that finding a job that would meet your values and vision would be smooth and easy.

Imagine that there is a place where you belong and can create meaningful relationships and engage in peer to peer support, which will provide you a feeling of fulfillment and means for an accelerated growth.

Imagine that you could learn about future in a consistent way and understand what´s coming next so that you feel capable in crafting the future narrative.

With this vision, the community launched in March of 2020 conducting already a face to face gathering and two in a virtual format bringing together individuals from corporations, start-ups, students, academia and freelancers. The concept and provided contents were warmly welcomed and intensively discussed about on socials. This traction gives motivation to further grow, create and impact.

Hello Alina,

You have a beautiful overview, I have a suggestion that might be of help;

Instead of generalizing with startups, trends, freelancing etc. It would be good to select one base on your community needs, your passion and where your experience lies. For example if your pick startups your could have your community focus on either startups with AI or IoT or AR or VR.

It would help you gain knowledge, know the key problems of that area and know how to proffer solutions. It would help you and your community gain mastery of that area.

All you mentioned are really broad subject matters.

Just an opinion.

Kind regards.

How is this idea an innovation?
I believe there are many existing solutions on this

Nivashini Rave Rattey May 15, 2020

Dear Alina,

Thank you for sharing the overview of your idea with us.

As suggested by @Goodness Chammang, the scope of your idea seems to be a little broad and this means, there is a risk of going off the context.

Perhaps, you may want to clearly define (i) who your target audience are; (ii) what the "relevant/certain/future skills" are; (iii) how exactly these lack in your community; (iv) the current challenge(s) in your community (due to the lack of those specific skills)- especially during the ongoing health crisis; (v) how your idea can address the challenge(s) within your community so as to have a positive impact; and (vi) how unique is your idea or proposed solution from the other similar ones.

Although, the style of narration is fine, please note that your story lacks specificity, scientific evidences and proofs (which are essential for engendering trust), and a solid call-to-action (the "ask" is not clear- in your story, you are asking the readers to imagine a few things- but are they good enough to trigger your target audience to respond positively towards your proposal?).

Hi Niva,
Thanks for your feedback.
As part of the "target audience" of the heyfuture community, I can confirm that the response to the heyfuture meetups (F2F and virtual) were more than positive as I attended the previous heyfuture gatherings.
I am aware that there are a lot of meetup communities but heyfuture is different. The selected topics meet the needs of the community very well, the meetups are extremely professionally prepared and this is seen by the community. I have attended great meetups all around the world but I have never seen so meaningful and deep connections arising from a meetup. In addition, these connections and the sparks from the heyfuture meetups trigger new innovation. The best prove is that I am currently in a Design Sprint startup team which arose from the heyfuture community.
Best,
Tobias

Hi Alina,
As you know, I am a big fan of the heyfuture community and you described it here beautifully. I was especially inspired by reading the story that made you create the heyfuture community. That you took the difficult times that you were in as a trigger to create such a great community is very special and motivating.
To drive more innovation and change with the heyfuture community going forward I think it would be good to use one of the next heyfuture meetups to setup Design Sprint teams, similar to what we do now. These teams would act as a multiplier for innovation.
In addition, we could have online discussion forums to further discuss topics that were started in a heyfuture meetup.
Just some ideas on how to further develop heyfuture. I would be happy to support in these developments :)
Best,
Tobias

The interesting feature about us entrepreneurs is that we have a eagle's sense of awareness for finding opportunities, weave guesses, and look out for effective ways to distribute them to people that need them.

Here, you have discovered the friction, but haven't formed your guesses. You will need to outline the future skills and how you think you can achieve that. What makes you different from your competitors. Why do you stand out? Being that this is in digital innovation category, how does your project fit into this? What are your sustainability goals? Properly cultivate these into your startup. Good luck!

Dear Alina,

while the idea is great, the question I have is as to why not make use of any existing platform and communities such as LinkedIn Groups, Facebook Groups or such or use an Open Source community platform that can simply be deployed on AWS or such? Those are usually highly customizable and time to market, resources and investment might be better.

Best regards
Thomas

Dear Alina, I think there are many opportunities to refine your idea here. There are already several existing solutions related to this, so you need to highlight the competitive advantages of your initiative. Which will help you to stand out from the crowd.

Hello !Allina

I would like like to share the following with you:

I was about to share a quote that came in my mind a few seconds ago. Suddenly I remembered what Prof. Dr. Günter Faltin wrote." simplicity is a good principle. Complexity is the entrepreneur's enemy. If you believe that "paring down" and "simplicity" are too basic, not impressive enough, and not at all grand, then remember Leonardo Davinci: " Simplicity is the ultimate perfection".

It came to my mind that my quote had already been said by others, several times and in many different ways. But when did they say the quote, did they use the same words as mine, what were the circumstances? How the author did grew up? Was he black or white? A man or female, and many more questions. When I realized that the combinatorial analysis still offers unlimited scope, I silently breathed a sigh of relief. The market is never saturated for entrepreneurs, it requires a dose of simplicity to innovate and propose a sustainable solution while using available material, inclusive what others already used.

Support us with votes and comments, thank you.

Target a particular set of people and expand from there. This is awesome though!
