DGDA Drug Verification

What ?

The **DGDA Drug Verification**  apps  is a free  web/smart phone based  app for reporting suspected adverse drug reactions, Authenticating Medicines Purchased with Price , Submission of Complaints (regarding Medicines Availability, overpricing, suspicious info on SF etc.) to National Competent Authorities i.e. DGDA (www.dgda.gov.bd).This simple tool lets you report adverse effects to medicines, keep track of previously reported information and receive official Authentications, news and alerts about medicines you are taking or interested in.
Why use the app?
•
Quick and easy to report adverse effects, complaints
• Instant access to medicines Price info
• Instant Authentication of Purchased Medicines ( PUSH-PULL SMS to 333 and  Online Both)

  • Help make medicines safer for all
    • It’s free!
                                 key features of this application:
  • Identifying SF / Authenticating drug
  • Complain about over pricing of drugs
  • Complain about medicine
  • Adverse Drug Reaction Reporting*
  •  View and submit updates to previously submitted reports
  • See immediate acceptance of your reports.

Why does it matter?

As per National Context Bangladesh lacks in establishing citizen centric communication medias as a result we are experiencing frauds/scams at mass level ( e.g. COVID-19 PPE scams, Fake N95 scams etc).we are still struggling to determine the true penetration of SF products in this 160 million peoples country.

As per International Context Whereas ADR is being pointed as the 4th Largest cause of Death and here we don’t have any mechanism for patients to be experiencing  “ Take and Tell”Suspected problems or incidents involving medical devices, defective medicines, suspected counterfeits or fake medicines can also be reported to the DGDA via the website at http://103.48.16.179/ . All reports received through the app or website can help the DGDA identify potential new concerns about a medicine or medical device and act as an early warning for further investigation.

When ?

With the help of the honorable Prime Minister’s office’s A2i project, Directorate General of Drug Administration is being able to offer the mobile apps  which will enable citizens of Bangladesh  to get  rightly priced, safe and effective medicines available. The Journey Started in October 2017 and After The completion of Successful piloting phase evaluation its on the Top Queue for Nationwide Scale up by The Jurys on The Showcasing Events  June 15,2019

Hi Mohid. great initiative. I just wanted to know if and how the app will facilitate the verification of complaints and allegations against these drugs. I want to know if this platform is only for reporting and lets the authorities verify the complaints. How will the platform prevent perpetrators with ill agendas from reporting false complaints just to have a drug withdrawn from sales. Perhaps this is a question that will be answered as the design phase approaches, but i think you should look into it. Also, it terms of scope, are the drugs being reported also inclusive of traditional drugs or is it just modern ones?

MD MOHID ISLAM Jul 17, 2020

Thanks for the Query. Soon i will be coming back with a pictorial

MD MOHID ISLAM Jul 17, 2020

Unique code will be imprinted on the outer pack ( secondary packaging box ); Manufactureres will be using this same app where upon filling in medicine Manufacturing details they can generate codes ;
each manufacturer can nominate 2 QA ppl who are also registered in NMRAs list

MD MOHID ISLAM Jul 17, 2020

FIrstly Its Being built on Focusing over 04 Features.
1. You Can Authenticate medicine through PUSH PULL TEXT or Online Platform/Apps just Like TYPING THE 08 ALPHABETICAL Character imprinted over the Secondary Packs.
(Pilot Phase ran with 37 FPPS from 16 Manufacturers in Country)

Second Consumers , Physician s, Pharmacists and Other Healthcare Stakeholders can Submit ADR online (ICH E2B Standardization ongoing)

Third Anyone Can Verify The most updated price (Approved by DGDA ) of any medicines . e.g. Here approximately 28000 local Brands of 1487 different Generics are being sold in a variety of 65,000 different market presentation.

Fourth it will enable Citizen centric reporting like Snap and Send / Take and Tell Approach.Community engagement is of paramount importance here countries like myself from..just stepped into LMIC and Experiencing Geographical Dividend Along with recent COVID 19 Terrible impact on Multiple Factors of Countrys wheel.

Hope i can make you visualize a bit .
Any sort of Suggestion / remarks/critique whatever... it will be highly appreciated . i am here solely on the purpose to be knowing the key things i dont know and should know further from you people.
Thank you

LAST but NOt least ...
It got Selected among 29 Succesful Pilot (Completion) projects under different wings of Ministry of Health and on June 15,2019 A Showcasing event Held for JURYs Review.
**Myself recieved Letter of Thanks from Honorable Secretary of Health(Attached though in our official Language-Bengali)
Its been tested by WHO-PV wing even.
Ms Ayako Fukushima herself filled in all the templates denoting the features as consumer and later on we communicated number of times.
here in lieu of Med-Safety (Web -RADR Project) They stated This one already got exposure to stakeholders and people (at least a glimpse) so its nimbleness is preffered
The Health Secretary, Cabinet Secretary and National SDG Convenor along with Present Divisional Commissioner of Dhaka pick this one as top 04 recommended for NATIONWIDE SCALE UP.
midst of such sweeter facts the bitter one is my agency got no personnel on IT other than operator Level.
Hope you get too that OUTSOURCING MIGHT BE THE ONLY SURVIVAL

In scaling of business?

Scaling for Business -(Mainly Maintenance ) and sustainibility

Users tagged:

MD MOHID ISLAM Jul 19, 2020

yes for sure but its like a bit more than that ,
e.g. you got the approval with no one within Agency ( Tech guy /IT man) besides for further funding its another due to the fact of facing constraints making it a proper one ( Tech/framework upgrade viewpoint)
what inside my head is to add a bit more for the best outsourced one who will keep it alive and climb further for the sake of the add ons which will boost his motivation finacially :)

This should be added to your project description.

MD MOHID ISLAM Jul 19, 2020

Okay.
Thanks much indeed for your kind suggestion
will try my level best to incorporate them as best fit part
however
here is the glimpse of DASHBOARD view for your opinion.
should i create sort of visuals of all outputs using the system...like a walkthrough for audience/people???

Sunday Bawa Jul 19, 2020

Usually your pitch should give the entire picture of project at a glimpse so please do and upload too! Ooh this looks good man

Share your story: you can narrate a movie about how you were inspired with this idea up until your MVP became a reality and not refer us to your attached document. This narrative should also be captured adequately in your 2 minute video with a flash of your dashboard and video should have English subtitles.

MD MOHID ISLAM Jul 25, 2020

Thank you !

Sunday Bawa Jul 25, 2020

You're welcome man.

Joseph Bozimo Jul 20, 2020

Nice one sir. Just a quick question.
How do you sensitize this app to the lame man who is not tech sevy

Also, how do you go about fraud stars who will want to mimic this app. To sell illegal drugs.

Lastly. Those in remote villages with no means of communication (Device). How can you get feedback from them? Are you planning to supply device to them as well to be able to meet up with current practice?

Also how can your app ensure the integrity of Imported drugs from abroad. eg Covide-19 Vaccine

Thank you

MD MOHID ISLAM Jul 25, 2020

its cellphone based even.
feature phone users can text
smart phone users can text + check through app
i cordially request you to download the first 2 attachments

MD MOHID ISLAM Jul 22, 2020

what i should do?

Users tagged:

Nivashini Rave Rattey Jul 22, 2020

you can do 3 things:
1. Wait patiently for a mentor's or super constructive feedback so that you can refine your idea
2. Choose an ideal mentor and ask for feedback if you dont want to wait
3. Continue cocreating by voting for ideas that you like and providing constructive feedback.

Nivashini Rave Rattey Jul 21, 2020

Status label added: Community feedback received

MD MOHID ISLAM Jul 22, 2020

where is the feedback??

Nivashini Rave Rattey Jul 22, 2020

in the comment box :)

Participants from the challenge community have provided you feedback. Most of them are not constructive. So, you need to start asking them to provide you with one that will help you refine your idea.

You have too much verbiage. You need to keep your answer straight to the point. All other info can be under annex. Anyways, a mentor will soon provide a feedback.

MD MOHID ISLAM Jul 22, 2020

i have to submit the final one by July 31st with video (2 minutes ) , right ?

Users tagged:

Nivashini Rave Rattey Jul 22, 2020

Yes! You submit the link to your YouTube video along with your application & final submission forms.
1. Post your refined idea on the platform and wait for an expert feedback.
2. Once you have received the “Expert feedback”, fill up your Final Submission form based on your Expert’s feedback.
3. Then create a YouTube video based on your answers on the final submission form. Read the instructions on this form for clarity.

MD MOHID ISLAM Jul 26, 2020

Thanks . So am awaiting for getting the expert feedback before July 30,2020.
By this time i will concentrate with the you tube link.
and a plan to reduce the verbiage load.

Users tagged:

Nivashini Rave Rattey Jul 26, 2020

No. As clearly mentioned in my comment above, you need to first post your refined idea on this platform (not as a comment) based on the feedback you have received so far. The expert feedback will only be given to your refined idea. You then fill up your final submission form and make the video based on your further refined idea according to the expert's feedback. If still confused, press the resources tab on this platform and go watch the video of webinar 2. I've clearly shown the steps to refine your idea.

MD MOHID ISLAM Jul 27, 2020

Thnaks.
its much more easier ..perhaps easiest one for me to get it all rather than your earlier ones.
i am assured on my incompetency to perceive and the reason perhaps a Word '''EXPERT' vs '''MENTOR'''
because to me Its Different (i might be wrong......its just depicting facts) as i received Training's on some Pharmaceuticals-Advanced Quality Risk Models-where education, Learning, knowledge, SKill-mix''s, Competency, Wisdom,Trainer, Experts, Mentor--every word got different meaning +fathom
thats why sdrowned in ambivalence .....
However Your advices worked really .......upto the last one for watching webinars.
Its been quite of a learning from the enlightened.
Thanks once again
Stay Blessed and Safe

N.B. Consider this reply as an expression of my gratefulness to Your numerous efforts for saving me derailing.

How much growth potential does your idea offer?

MD MOHID ISLAM Jul 25, 2020

in BDG we are striving to initiate this from scratches

Achia Khaleda Jul 27, 2020

Thanks for the ans.

(Account removed) Jul 23, 2020

Great Idea.
but in Nigeria where i live currently, not all drugs come with code. In such situation, how do we send an SMS to the number written , when there is no code on the drug to test its originality

MD MOHID ISLAM Jul 25, 2020

thats why its called a bit innovative

KOLAWOLE IBUOYE Jul 23, 2020

Good initiative!!! I think the app should also be able to confirm what the drugs are meant for and also the side effect of the drug. The verification should also show the manufacturing date and the date the drug will expire. Through this initiative drug can be controlled.

MD MOHID ISLAM Jul 25, 2020

Thanks much
Yes its been added. Manufacturers Name , MFG date, Expiry and Price

Shawn Melville Jul 23, 2020

Hi Md Mohid,
You are working on an excellent initiative which has the potential to scale due to the high prevalence of patients worldwide using expired medicines. I am of the opinion however that you need to revise your proposal so that is easier for your audience to read and understand. Your idea is poorly structured which makes it very difficult to understand what your solution is and how it is going to address the problem. I recommend that you think about the order in which you want to present the idea so that it flows logically from one point to the next so that you are able to communicate it well. Here are 3 key questions/areas to address in your proposal:
1. Do you have a 'Minimum Viable Product' or prototype and if yes, have you tested it?
2. How do you intend to reach your target market and what challenges you are likely to encounter?
3. What is your business model? In other words, how will you generate revenue and manage expenses?

MD MOHID ISLAM Jul 25, 2020

Thanks much for your queries .
1. Try http://103.48.16.179
0r
Search "DGDA Drug Verification" in Google playstore.
hope you get to test its viability :)
2. Two way mechanism :
A. To offer the manufacturers using this free of cost ( almost ) for protecting Their products
B. To enforce them enabling own Track and trace which must be linked to this system
C. The Scalability (Fund ) is an issue of concern.if it goes smooth then the difference between Free to Almost free will settle the business tabs....through which we can run it through 24X7 support experts

Gavin Ngabonziza Jul 24, 2020

This is very promising, so long as scalability guaranteed.

Ingrid Constantin Jul 24, 2020

Hi Mohid! Congrats for your initiative!
A few suggestions, if you would like to take them in consideration:
-When using abbreviations, it would be good to state in brackets what it stands for.
-I am curious if you have you considered using this for clinical trials also in the future
-great that you explained why users would choose to use your app! Have you considered talking a bit of the competition, if any, and why is your solution unique?

Congrats again and best of luck!
Best,
Ingrid

Thanks much for your queries.
To the best of my knowledge its the unique one in country which offers services free for ALL
Manufacturers are welcomed to be using this to generate Batch/Lot wise unique codes for free!!!
to secure their products.

Consumers got to verify Medicines Free Almost (.01 USD for Push-Pull)!!!

And The Service Provider itself acts as
"The National Medicine Regulatory Authority of Bangladesh"

Hi @Mohid good initiative. Have you integrated your app with other telemedicine or teleconsultation apps? This kind of application can really boost user confidence in developing the market for telemedicine.

Alin-Claudiu Apostu Aug 8, 2020

Hello Mohid,

First of all congrats on the idea and for all the awards you've won and mentions in the press. This seems to be a nice validation for how big the problem is and how much people need your solution. I was wondering if you thought about how this would be sustainable on the long run?
- I was also thinking if there is a way you can validate the adverse reactions and correlate them with the usage of those drugs. People can also associate those reactions from other things they consume and this is something that usually the doctors uncover through anamnsesis.
- Another phenomenon that I see people is that they treat themselves by the ear or whatever they find on the internet (especially for generic drugs that can be bought without prescription) and I was thinking if you are not encouraging this even more?
- Is there any possibility for people to start sending negative feedback and hypothetical comments out of anger on a specific drug or pharmaceutical company? Nowadays we can see a lot of rage against pharma companies.
- Have you thought about scalability?
- What do you need to create more impact? What resources do you have and you need to attract?

Congrats once again for all the validation and traction you've got.
