3) Provide a platform that enables that support schools and teachers to engage their students directly through our virtual classroom and whiteboard integration. We also provide School Management Software for Schools.

What problems (particularly in value chain competitiveness and global disruption) are your community’s stakeholders facing due to the Covid-19 pandemic?

According to UNICEF report, 10.5 million of the country’s children aged 5-14 years are not in school. Only 61% of 6 to 11-year-olds regularly attend primary school. Some states in the north east and north west of the country have more than half of the girls not enrolled in schools as marginalization ensures that girls are deprived of basic education. This struggle was going on prior to COVID-19 to ensure young children stay in school and have access to proper education, as Nigeria contributes approximately 20% of the total global out-of-school population.

On 19 March 2020, the Federal Ministry of Education approved school closures as a response to the pandemic which led some states to release a scheduled radio and TV lessons for students in public schools.

However, the purchase of radios or TV became a trade-off that cannot be afford by families that earn below $1 per day and faced harsh economic realities due to the lockdown in the state. Another major challenge became indigent children and people in underserved communities who do not have access to TV and Radio.

The School closures impact not only students, teachers, and families, but have far-reaching economic and societal consequences.

In response to school closures, many eLearning and virtual classroom platforms have been launched to limit the disruption of education. YET THIS HAVE NOT SOLVED THE EDUCATIONAL PROBLEM IN AFRICA.

WHY?

Unequal access to technology: Lack of access to technology or good internet connectivity is an obstacle to continued learning, especially for students from disadvantaged families.

Unequal access to educational resources: Lack of limitations and exceptions to copyright can also have an impact on the ability of students to access the textbooks and materials they need to study.

Device Challenge: Many students do not have their own computer system or smart phone.

Electricity Challenge: Most part of African especially the rural area do not have regular power supply.

What minimum viable solution(s) are you proposing to address the challenge(s) in your community?

ACADASUITE is all in one WEB and MOBILE platform of Learning Management System (LMS) and Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) with a customized mobile learning devices that is solar energy powered. This will automatically reduce the challenge of power and internet connection especially for the students in rural areas and from indigent children. We are on a mission to provide quality and affordable education that is accessible and affordable to disadvantaged children and people in rural areas. To enable us break the challenges of exiting solutions, ACADASUITE can be access through mobile devices, online platform and offline deployment designated places.

Share your story (your narrative)

While studying at the university I experienced many academic challenges due to the poor education I received in the rural area. This birthed the vision to improve the inaccessibility of quality education to disadvantaged children and people in rural areas, especially in Nigeria.

To achieve this vision ACADASUITE SCHOOL MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE, was launched in 2015. However, this software became ineffective due to the recent disruption of education caused by Covid-19 which led to scaling up to ACADASUITE ELEARNING AND VIRTUAL CLASSROOM PLATFORM, an open source platform that offers quality education for every Africa Leaner. Despite our tremendous efforts to continue to support quality education we soon realized that poor access to technology, cost of internet, and poor electricity were major barriers to be overcome in other to reach our target market.

These challenges greatly inspired us to look deeper at creating sustainable solutions for our educational system.

ACADASUITE is an open source platform that offers quality education that is accessible and affordable to disadvantaged children and people in rural areas. A platform that provide comprehensive Nigeria curriculum based contents both in video and written format prepared by educational content developers from all over states which provide the students the opportunity to learn from teacher of their choice unlike normal classroom that they are restricted to one teacher. Students can test their knowledge before exams. Our products and services is primarily aimed at producing indigenous people who think critically, creatively, and productively. We also empower teachers and schools with platform and tools which will help them increase their professionalism and reach.

Our vision is to:

Provide 100% open source where quality education will be easily accessible and affordable for all. ACADASUITE envisages to reach 1 million students by the end of 2021 by

reducing the cost of quality education and making it accessible in rural areas.

Promotion of unified curriculum for schools in a given country.

Contribution to social stability and economic advancement.

Wealth transition from one generation to another.

By providing quality education, we will successfully meet all SDG goals.

The idea will ensure that everyone have easy access to Education

Sunday Bawa Jul 16, 2020

Hi, this is a unique name for a pretty Kool initiative. Well done! But can you please delete the first paragraph as it's a repeat and not so much in perspective like the second paragraph. Now unto the second paragraph: I like it that your Innovation took into consideration your "rural community" so we are also looking at the "purchasing power" of rurals. This is vital in deciding if this platform is going to be accessed online or purchased at a token for offline download with option of update when an update is available? How about ACADABOX is solar/battery powered mobile tablet and light pen programmed with ACADASUITE operating system and design tools for educational content developers as well rural community users. So a user can sign up as edu content developer (likely a teacher in rural area) or rural content user. Teacher in rural area uses own tab goes online uses tools (mobile tablet has atleast 12MP front camera) to develop content and then rural uses own tab to download content to use offline in tab. Is there a small fee attached in using advanced tools when developing content by educator or is there a small fee attached when downloading by rural?

Enyika Iheanyichukwu Jul 16, 2020

Yes. The will small fee attached depending.
Thanks.

Israel Abazie Jul 16, 2020

Your project path is a worthwhile cause no doubt Enyika. If I understood your idea correctly, you stated that there will be a customized mobile device for educational content integration which will be powered by solar energy. How will your device be accessible to a distinct part of your customer segment living in undeserved/rural areas? And when you say internet connection free, you lose the audience. Dissect the word and your good!

Enyika Iheanyichukwu Jul 16, 2020

Thank for your review. We have signed up over 300 teachers across Nigeria; they have access to the undeserved/rural areas.

Israel Abazie Jul 17, 2020

Hi Enyika,
I trust you are well.

Let me congratulate you on your idea. Any idea that seeks to further education and literacy is an idea to support. Moreover, I am really impressed by the fact the AcadaSuite has taken into consideration the challenge of low access to internet connectivity, computers, and energy.

I wish to share a few remarks for your consideration.
1. It would be great to know which learning areas (curriculum) you will be prioritizing and the reason/s.
2. It would be great to understand whether you will be developing the devices yourself, purchasing them or looking to secure a technology partner.
3. Consider mentioning which age group/s you are targeting for your platform.
4. Consider mentioning how AcadaSuite will be both funded and sustained financially.
5. Consider amending your objectives into SMART objectives to reflect how you intend to move from idea to prototype. Visit https://thedigitalprojectmanager.com/project-objectives/ for a detailed explanation

Enyika Iheanyichukwu Jul 16, 2020

We cover both School curriculum, Languages, ICT, Finance, Etc.
The Age group is between 3-20 years.
We will be partnering Device Manufacture for the devices.
Thanks

Marabe Ditshego Jul 16, 2020

I appreciate your response.
All the best going forward.

James Kiruri Jul 17, 2020

With the presence of Covid19, virtual and digital learning is a space that has been forced to mature faster than it would ever have. Please delete second paragraph in your idea section as it seems to be a repetition.

(Account removed) Jul 17, 2020

This is an idea that's ideal for the moment, it's also one we need for the future, because it has the potential to elevate the level of our educational system in Nigeria and Africa as a whole. I've been privileged to try out the product and i can tell you it's as good as it's advertised.

Enyika Iheanyichukwu Jul 18, 2020

Thank you Mr. Aigbogun, We are working hard to impact more.

Congratulations to Enyika, your idea is brilliant one. But if I may ask, what is your plan to reach rural area?

Enyika Iheanyichukwu Jul 23, 2020

Is very simple, we plan to bundle the contents on a solar powered device so that light will not be an issue. Our app also have the capacity to sync when their is an update.

very innovative ! indeed most schools have been closed due to covid19 and many institutions are looking solutions to continue with their learning. i am curious on how you are making money from this? and what is your strategy to to be above television programs that are now offering similar services? are you also thinking about delivering resources according to syllabus? all the best

Enyika Iheanyichukwu Jul 28, 2020

If you watch what they are showing in television, you will agreed with me that is not comprehensive because they are managing time. Not everyone have light to watch at the same time, students can not write note neither can television assess them, etc. How many people in rural area have TV and light?
We are providing a solution that will enable students learn anywhere anytime using different channel (Offline and Online). Assessment is key to assess the students understanding. We will have learning device that will be powered with solar energy.
We charge a token to support the system is not 100% free.

EUNICE KAJALA Aug 16, 2020

Hi Enyika,
Well thought initiative. One of your objective,is to reach every African child with the quality basic education, how will you standardize your educational curriculum for the whole continent of Africa?

Enyika Iheanyichukwu Aug 19, 2020

We are taken it country by country. we are starting with Nigeria

JOSEPH MUNJI Aug 16, 2020

Excellent Idea. Help me understand though, the process by which the teachers would be compensated

Teachers are compensated based on the students that subscribe to their course

Valentina Araya Aug 18, 2020

Hello Enyika, Hope you are great!
Congratulations for this great initiative! You tackle a real problem that is present not only in Nigeria and Africa but in most Latin American countries. Even after Covid I think Edtech solutions have a huge opportunity to thrive.
From the description, ACADASUIT is tackling several challenges: access to quality education, access to technology, and power supply, so first, what is the main problem you want to solve? what your target segment? what is the market size in USD?

I think also it would be great to know about the team's abilities behind this project that will work to fulfill all those challenges.
A main challenge I see is to connect the student, schools, and teachers with the necessary technology and hardware to access the available online content, it is not clear what makes you different from other solutions available that already offer content. Consider adding some emphasis to your value proposition!

Related to the technology, devices, and power supply, what is the strategy you are developing to face those challenges. Are you collaborating with providers or getting partnerships? Are you making strategic alliances?

You mentioned your launch in 2015, what is the traction you have? Are you already working with some schools? If so, how many students have used your platform? What is the plan to reach 1MM students?

In order to be profitable and keep operating in the long term, reaching more students and countries: what is your business model? How do you make money?

There are some details in your pitch that are mentioned more than once and some other relevant information that is missing, consider what changes could you make to the pitch that would give further details on questions that are not being answered yet.
Regards!

Enyika Iheanyichukwu Aug 21, 2020

Thank you very much reviewing our application. Below is the answer to the review, we we will update.
According to a UNICEF report (2019), over 10.5 million children aged 5-16 years in Nigeria are not in school. This numbers could be worst considering the effect of the recent COVID-19 Pandemic. To solve this problem, we need think deeper on how to make quality education accessible for all.
Yes. ACADASUITE is tackling ONE PRIMARY CHALLENGE: access to quality education; Currently we focus on providing quality education using a web platform that we have developed to connect students to premium educational contents and trainers from the comfort of their homes; So far we have up to a thousand instructors and specialists in the educational sector signed up to provide contents (Video, Text format and images).
While our platform is effective for the immediate market, we will have to deal with the challenges of access to technology and power supply as we scale. Hence, our next milestone target to customize solar-powered mobile learning devices that will enable students to access the academic contents offline with an option of update when available. Our solar-powered devices would encourage sustainability and support climate change at the same time reduce the challenge of power and internet connectivity especially for the students in rural areas and from indigent families. As for market size, we intend to charge as low as $1 USD per course and subscription pegged at $4/Month. With every student buying an average of two courses per year, our annual projection is $2 Million dollars in revenue.

(ACADASUITE have 10 team members made up of experienced educationists, software developers, accountant, legal adviser and business developers with perfect skills and the ability to solve educational problems. For Now, our team is made up Nigerians, Togo and Cameroon)

Our uniqueness is clear: we are the 1st to provide a comprehensive affordable curriculum based quality education to learners, making it accessible to rural area and indigents children. We are also empowering teachers to ensure they can do what they like to do best regardless of geography and earn a pay even while sleeping.

For device sourcing: we are making strategic alliances with manufacturers to customize for us. One of our team members from Togo has worked on a similar project and is contributing his experience.

We are 12-schools strong schools on our School Management and eLearning platform! Once we launch the online course module and make it accessible to rural areas, through our strategies with Teachers, Partners, Affiliates system and Ads, is very easy to reach 1 million users within 12 Months.

Our business model is largely subscription-based. Students will be able to subscribe to any content on the ACADASUITE platform that suites their learning desire. There are subscription packages that covers for 1 month, 3 months, 6 months or 1-year learning span. Minimum access fee to the platform is pegged at $4/month. Extra profit will be made on course bundle purchases and virtual classroom subscriptions. We also make money through the mobile learning devices. We started with Nigeria, as we master all the business processes. We start to extend to other countries.

Hi Enyika, this is a brilliant idea.
Just to add on the goal of delivering a high quality education to every child in Africa remains unfulfilled, but technology presents an opportunity for this to be a reality. eLearning has overwhelming potential to improve education systems in African countries and if implemented well with strategies that focus on overcoming these key challenges, radical transformation of the education system is possible. All the best
