Hackathon4Everyone

Hackathon4Everyone is idea of the software platform for transformation all hackathons and competitions events to digital hackathons and online events in Myanmar(Burma). It will let everyone have a chance to participate in hackathons and to avoid physical events and gathering for preventing Covid 19.

Define three specific objectives that you would like to achieve with your proposal.

  1. The project goal is to give a chance to everyone who wants to participate in competitions online and grow inclusion of community in technology.

  2. The transformation from physical hackathon to online hackathon makes the prevention Covid 19.

  3. Make hackathon more scalable by creating opportunities to participate all people including disable person, and who cannot have time to give time to coming competition physical place.

What problems (particularly in value chain competitiveness and global disruption) are your community’s stakeholders facing due to the Covid-19 pandemic?

During Covid-19 pandemic period, we all had to avoid the gathering and events. So, the hackathon events have to face the problem in making events. Then, the idea to transform from physical events to digital events will be the solution for this problem. It will not only make solutions but also create more scalability for participating.

What minimum viable solution(s) are you proposing to address the challenge(s) in your community?

The core solution is to transform from physical competition events to digital online competition events in the Myanmar(Burma) community.

Share your story (your narrative)

The story comes before Covid 19 in Myanmar(Burma). First of all, let me introduce a very little about myself to understand the story line. I am a programmer and I really love problem solving, coding and hackathon very much since my childhood. So, I join a lot of hackathons and competitions every time I have chances. I have won some competitions and lost a lot but I love hackathons so much. Before covid 19, we have to go to the competition location and spend 2 or 3 days at this place. It was really fantastic and awesome. When covid 19 happened, all events had to be canceled and there would not be any hackathon as physical events. Then, I get these problems and really want to solve this issue by making the digitization process on hackathons. During my stay home period, I knew the one website competition online called “WIT 2020 - Web Innovative Talent” and  I built a prototype website using this problem solving idea. Then, I won a Technical Award with this Prototype at WIT. So, I feel stronger and really motivated to make this Hackathon4Everyone idea in real life. I have see three main problems we can solve with Hackathon4Everyone platform. There are preventing Covid19, more technical inclusion and making the chance to disable people to participate in hackathons. This is a short story about this idea.

Please provide any additional relevant information that you would like to share.

I have made basic business model on my idea base on Lean Canvas.Basically, my platform will get one advertisement by dealing with potential investor who are used to invest in competition events before covid 19. In My product revenue, the user will have to use energy point to join events. Some amount of energy point will give when first time open account. When low number of energy point, they have to buy point to continue join more events.

Hello Min, welcome to the community. Have gone through your idea and it is not clear if this is a social enterprise or it is a for profit business. Maybe you would want to work on that and make it a lot more clear. All the best

It's good go have you participating Min. To be honest, you have proposed no innovative idea and this challenge track is for that. Please tell us the innovativeness in what your proposing? Just participating online to avoid physical touch during hackathon still sounds vague. What are the modalities for participating? How will up to 20 persons connect online where they ideate and code? Please dissect your submission more and reveal the innovative appeal it contains. Finally, how will this mode be sustainable?

I would like to congratulate you on your project where you will to give a chance to everyone who wants to participate in competitions online and grow inclusion of the community in technology. keep it up on incredible project

You need to describe more on how the solution work, the flow process of your idea.

Angela Matlapeng Aug 16, 2020

Hello Min. There checkout platforms like cyber ranges and hack-the-box. Perhaps you can borrow some few concepts from them and maybe get an idea of what more to add to your customized hackathons in Myanmar.

Tafadzwa Chikwereti Aug 16, 2020

Hello !

I would like like to share the following with you:

I was about to share a quote that came in my mind a few seconds ago. Suddenly I remembered what Prof. Dr. Günter Faltin wrote." simplicity is a good principle. Complexity is the entrepreneur's enemy. If you believe that "paring down" and "simplicity" are too basic, not impressive enough, and not at all grand, then remember Leonardo Davinci: " Simplicity is the ultimate perfection".

It came to my mind that my quote had already been said by others, several times and in many different ways. But when did they say the quote, did they use the same words as mine, what were the circumstances? How the author did grew up? Was he black or white? A man or female, and many more questions. When I realized that the combinatorial analysis still offers unlimited scope, I silently breathed a sigh of relief. The market is never saturated for entrepreneurs, it requires a dose of simplicity to innovate and propose a sustainable solution while using available material, inclusive what others already used.

Support us with votes and comments, thank you.

This is already available and online. How is your different? How long do you hope to start real work with enough income margins?

DJ Koeman Aug 24, 2020

Hey, hope you are well! Nice idea. You may want to reach out to MIT. They have been doing a number of online hackathons of late with people form all around the world. Quite impressive, using Slack and Zoom, among others. They may have templates, playbooks and what not to share. In the meantime, have a look at our idea and vote for it if you like it: https://cocreate.itu.int/post/3496670
