Bio Dr Simpa Endurance DANIA is the CEO/Chief Happiness Officer of HealthStack Solutions Ltd, a digital health company based in Nigeria. His competencies include digital health implementations; business strategy; software and database development; and stakeholder management. He trained as a Medical Doctor at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria’s premier university; and has undertaken courses in Advanced telemedicine and Distance Learning Course (United States Telecommunication Training Institute); and in the Measurement, Design and Analysis for Health Outcomes Research (Harvard School of Public Health). Dr Simpa Dania played a leading role as a consultant in the development of the user requirement and design of the Lagos State Health Insurance Schemes ICT platform and currently provides Health Informatics consultancy to the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA). He has worked as a World Bank/IFC consultant to the Federal Ministry of Health Nigeria on the ICT for Basic Healthcare Provision Fund (BHCPF) project. He coordinated the development of the ICT infrastructure and requirement framework for the BHCPF. On the m-health platform, he was responsible for the development and implementation of the SMS4pregancy a component of our SMS4Health initiative targeted at alleviating the dismal maternal mortality in the country through education via text messaging system. He also led the coordination and implementation of a medical call center for the University College Hospital to provide coverage for both emergency and non-emergency medical calls Within the telemedicine domain, He has played leading roles both nationally and internationally. He was responsible for the setup and development of the University College Hospital Ibadan Telemedicine Department. He managed the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) telemedicine pilot project in which the UCH telemedicine Center was the national coordinating center. This pilot project involved 8 tertiary hospitals and a telemedicine van. In the southwest region, the telemedicine van was able to provide care to over 500 rural patients reaching as far as two neighboring states. He was responsible for the local implementation and setup of the Pan-African Telemedicine Network, in which the UCH Telemedicine Center is the regional center for the West African sub-regional. The Pan African Network connects 46 African patient locations and 12 super-specialist health institutions in India. I currently provide support for over three to four hours of continuing medical education sessions per day five days a week. Most content coming from the Indian superspecialist facilities. As University College Hospital is the regional super-specialist center, he has coordinated a number of CME broadcasts from our facility to the rest of Africa. Dr Simpa Dania is currently a volunteer as Lead, Health Informatics Consultant for Telemedicine and Ehealth in Nigeria (TEN), an NGO seeking to promote the use of technology in healthcare as a veritable tool in transforming Nigeria’s healthcare indices by a factor of 10 over the next ten years. He led the recently organized Prof IF Adewale Hackathon (www.ifa.healthhackathon.org) in collaboration with the Alexander Brown Hall, University of Ibadan for healthcare students, which was a great success. It was the first health hackathon targeted at Healthcare students in Nigeria and perhaps Africa. TEN is currently proving support to various organizations and health ministries within the country involved with the healthcare delivery ecosystem. Dr Simpa Dania has consulted for various international organizations including WorldBank/IFC, Pharmaccess Nigeria, Carepay International among others.
