the platform Youmna

The Youmna platform is a web and mobile platform that aims to facilitate access to agricultural products for direct consumption. Her main goal is to give to women in farming another way to sell their product easily and avoid crop waste. Our e-commerce platform appears as a supermarket where we will sell the products of rural women in order to increase their revenu and reduce poverty. We will also create a small transformation industry to make some local products like groundnut paste or chilli powder.

State your goals

Promote local products and facilitate their access

Increase women in farmings' incomes so they can make a living from their work and support their family

Contribute to the empowerment of women in rural areas by enabling them to access aid projects

Reduce farming losses by making it easier for them to access market place

Reduce poverty and lack of food

What problems (particularly in value chain competitiveness and global disruption) are your community’s stakeholders facing due to the Covid-19 pandemic?

problems  of the project :

For consumers:

   -  difficulty to access to quality products while avoiding large surfaces

   - people exposed to crowds

   - because of the Covid 19, people revenus are low and everything is expensive including the transportation fees

For  women farmers:

         -  low revenu due to losses

         - lack of  means of transport for their products

         -  No access to training  to improve their activity

         -  no visibility about rural women work or the problems they are going through

What minimum viable solution(s) are you proposing to address the challenge(s) in your community?

For consumers:

   - access to quality products while avoiding large surfaces

   - reduced mobility with home delivery and time savings

-accessible cost and savings on travel costs

For  women farmers:

         - possibility of increasing their profit by reducing losses

         - facility to find a means of transport for their products

         - access to training and possible donors to have a greater activity

         - visibility in their activities and possibility to share their experiences

My name is Aissata and I am web programmer from Côte D'Ivoire. I have been working for 3 years now in NGOs on women empowerment, girls education and computer skills learning. I believe that this project that is a section of my platform can be very helpful for women to have better revenue especially for their students ' studies.

Please provide any additional relevant information that you would like to share.

Women in rural area are working very hard for very few results. If we can create a program for them to be more organized and have visibility and also give to them a place of selling their products , we will change their life and also change the life of their children, reduce poverty and lack of food. For the first part of the project, we will choose women from a village near Bouna, a city in the north.

Thanks for sharing the overview of your idea!
Just purely based on the summary of your idea (first paragraph), it seems like your idea supports the concept of "housewives" and provides solution(s) to keep them home (regardless of the COVID-19 situation). On top of that, the idea seems to primarily target the betterment of farmers (in general) not primarily empower the women in your community (which should be the case- particularly for this challenge).

If my statements are incorrect, then I urge you to rephrase the sentences of your very first answer and provide specific details (demographics) of your target audience.

Otherwise, please remove this idea from this specific challenge and post it on the "Digital change-maker challenge".

Nonetheless, women should be not encouraged to stay home and cook.

Thank you for your return. Yes the main idea is to help farmers to have a betterment but also to help rural women to have a better revenue by helping them to transform their product and have a group brand. Yes women should not stay at home to cook, this is to avoid crowd places. I will be more specific, thank you

Nivashini Rave Rattey Jun 22, 2020

this specific challenge primarily focuses on women empowerment. Your idea qualifies for the other challenge category. Please review the challenge brief and do the necessary.

thank you again. I can't edit or delete for now, I will make it as soon as they allow

Hello, looks good but what makes it unique from other platforms offering same service ? Is this a free service ? If not what's your business model ? Thanks

Aïssata Dicko Jul 21, 2020

Thank you so much Sunday, no it is not all free although it has some free parts. For example putting women together and create foodstuff like groundnut paste in order to increase their revenue is free for the women

This is a great project. I think you should rejig your pitch. Remember this category is empowering women in your community. Talk about the friction caused by Covid19 which has made getting food products difficult. Now engage them dutifully.

It turns out this way: with the procurement of our agricultural farm, we will train women and girls in my community according to best farming practices. We will train them to produce their own foods, help them sell with our mobile and web technology we have built while at the comfort of their homes. Summarily, you them, help them sell by bridging the gap between buyers and sellers using your platform and source for finance should they need. Just replace farmers with women and girls in my community, you have it! Well done

You train them**

Thank you so much @Israel Abazie for your return, I am thinking exactly about the same; when the refine part will be unlocked, I will reformulate everything. Thanks again

Hello great inniative
So how is specifically helping farmers? To increase their money?
Or is it more for women in farming

You could make your pitch more specific and state out the points as clear as they can be

Hello Aïssata, Thanks for sharing with us your wonderful initiative. As far as I understand your idea is basically an e-commerce platform targeting housewives. Have you taken any initiatives through your platform to empower women yet?

The idea has been progressed to the next milestone.

Hi Aissatta. Great idea. What is your revenue model?

Muyunda Kaonga Aug 30, 2020

Hi Aissata, this is a great idea you just need to package it well. For a start work on your story narrative, give us a movie scene of how you got to come up with your idea by clearly defining the problem and solution. Nevertheless, agritech business is the way to go it is breathing new life into agriculture by finding new ways for farmers, animal agriculturalists, and food supply managers to go about their business. All the best
