Moscow Accelerator
The idea is to build a unified innovation ecosystem composed of the city’s government agencies, technology corporations, startups, and investors. The Moscow Accelerator includes a technology startup sandbox, a 10-week industry-focused business scale-up program, and a 6-month post-acceleration support program.
State your goals.
The overall goal of the program is to help startups scale up innovative technology solutions. Thanks to the Moscow Accelerator, startups get access to the city’s resources and have an opportunity to run a pilot project jointly with large corporations and the city.
What problems (particularly in value chain competitiveness and global disruption) are your community’s stakeholders facing due to the Covid-19 pandemic?
The market situation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic has only made us more confident in the need to have a unified innovation ecosystem. Things will not be the same as before, and the future belongs to breakthrough IT solutions and digitized processes. Taking care of our participants, we have converted all accelerator activities to an online format and were among the first in Russia to organize an online Demo Day (for the Digital Services track). We have also launched an anti-crisis support program for the accelerator’s graduates.
We help participating startups not just to survive in tough times, but also achieve improvements in performance indicators. Thanks to collaboration with large corporations, startups have higher chances for piloting their solutions.
By partnering with the Moscow Accelerator, corporations reduce costs associated with launching their own accelerators and scouting for innovative solutions. They can also increase the number of piloted solutions.
What minimum viable solution(s) are you proposing to address the challenge(s) in your community?
Our minimum viable solution is to launch a series of city-wide acceleration programs in partnership with technology companies to cover the following areas: ECOTECH, EDTECH, SPORTTECH/CYBERSPORT, FINTECH, SECURITYTECH, COMMTECH, INSURANCETECH, SMART CITY, ENERGYTECH, RETAILTECH, etc.
Share your story (your narrative)
The Moscow Accelerator is a free program designed to assist startups in promising industries to scale up innovative solutions. Funding for the program comes from the city and corporations. The Moscow Accelerator is operated by the Moscow Agency of Innovations in partnership with the Moscow Innovation Cluster Fund and with support from the Moscow Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Development. The first track, Digital Services, was launched in partnership with Yandex in January this year. The second track, BioMedTech, was launched in partnership with InVitro and ChemRar in June. Currently underway is the launch of FinTech and EdTech activities. In total, close to 20 tracks have been scheduled for 2020-2021.
Hi Kseniy, the proposed accelerator programs which you mention all sounds fantastic! It's not clear what the history of the Moscow Accelerator (MA) is exactly. Is this accelerator being developed by you or by the Moscow Agency of Innovation? Also, are there any other accelerators in Moscow? If there are, how does the MA differ from others? It's not clear what the angle or focus of the MA is. It would be great to hear more about this too.

It's not still clear on who is the founding members of the Incubator. Will there be funds to be disbursed to the startups you incubate?
What's your core product? And How will you track the impact?
Is the program for only Russian startups? What stage will you be interested to accept into your program? Those with merely an idea or prototype? Or atleast mvp?
