Digital System for Hand Hygiene Data Collection and Analytics in LMICS: A Covid-19 Intervention Using Touch-Less Hand Washing Technology in Uganda

There is a lot of contact involved with the hand washing facilities and its users in public facilities, thus increasing the likelihood of contamination and transmission of Covid-19.  Adherence to WHO recommended time & mechanism for handwashing and hand washing campaigns and interventions are difficult to assess and monitor, thereby making it hard to assess adherence, compliance, performance and effectiveness of the Covid-19 National interventions. Therefore, the Touchless Wash (TW-20) kit and TW-20 view data analytics platform, come in handy to enhance attainment of effective use and adherence to the hand washing covid-19 intervention. The technology not only prevents contact and thus recontamination between the user and the facility, but also  dispenses adequately the recommended amounts of soap and water, and for the recommended prescribed time for hand washing, as per WHO requirements. Its ability to generate real time data on hand washing, giving statistics on number of users on a particular day, in a particular location, while being remotely monitored, makes it more user friendly, and offers ground for Influencing public health campaigns and decision making based on real community data. Every hand-washing machine install creates a sample of over 1,000 users/hand washes per day and informs the adherence patterns in publicly shared spaces, amounts of water and liquid soap for forward planning for individual sites.
